FIRM HISTORY

Steven Heller was educated at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Choosing a non-traditional path after college, he worked in the field for a number of years as a carpenter, eventually becoming a design-build contractor. He served his architectural internship with several notable Maui firms prior to establishing this practice in 1988.

Steven is licensed in the State of Hawaii. As principal architect and sole owner, he actively participates in every project and sets the fundamental design direction of the firm. Over the years, Steven has devoted particular focus to the design of vernacular architecture which reflects the environmental, cultural and historical context of Hawaii.
